Nowadays, English has been playing a more crucial role in the society owing to technological development and globalization. Pharmacy major is a multidisciplinary area with pharmaceuticals, pharmacology, drug-regulatory, legal affairs as well as other subdivisions. Therefore, it is necessary for pharmaceutical freshmen to acquire fundamental knowledge, especially pharmaceutical terminologies, as soon as possible.

The fact that there has been no English pharmaceutical terminologies dictionary in Vietnamese market motivates us, based on the five main subdivisions: pharmaceu- tical manufacturing and distribution industry, pharmaceutical management, pharmaceutical quality control, pharmacognosy traditional medicine, and pharmacology-clinical pharmacy, to compile this English pharmaceutical terminolo- gy collection. Our main purpose is to provide a brief overview of pharmacy major in terms of fundamental English pharmaceutical terminologies. Helping pharmacy students, especially freshmen and those keen on pharmacy field, getting familiar with fundamental English pharmaceutical terms is another aim. More than that, we do hope that this content will attract other experienced colleagues.

Regarding to the layout, our academic product is divided into six chapters, including five chapters in accordance with five main pharmaceutical areas as well as one phonetic transcription chapter. In each chapter, fifty pharmaceutical terms in the alphabetical order are presented in terms of both general definition and pharmaceuti- cal one. The examples following do specifically illustrate each pharmaceutical terminology in academic pharmacy contexts. Last but not least, the phonetic transcrip- tion table besides their Vietnamese equivalents is presented in the final chapter.

We do believe this book will be of broad use for those interested and become trustworthy reference document in any self-study bookshelf. It goes without saying that it is impossible to complete such a dictionary without the critical comments from experienced colleagues, which we would absolutely treasure for betterment. We also would like to thank for the permission to reproduce some definitions and addresses cited in this book.
